Introduction
- … Researchers in computational terminology face a number of problems requiring new insights from both theoretical and practical viewpoints. First, the automatic identification of terminological units in running text is a task that needs further refinement. Linguistic approaches as well as probabilistic methods provide lists of candidate terms, that still need to be filtered (with automatic or semi-automatic procedures) in order to be usable in everyday applications. Secondly, once the terms have been extracted, variants must be regrouped (synonyms, or morpho-syntactic variants) in order to give users an accurate picture of the content of a document. Finally, corpora used to extract terminological units can be further investigated to find semantic and conceptual information on terms or to represent conceptual relationships between terms.
