Acting rationally: The rational agent approach
- Acting rationally means acting so as to achieve one's goals, given one's beliefs. An agent is just something that perceives and acts. (This may be an unusual use of the word, but you will get used to it.) In this approach, AI is viewed as the strudy and construction of rational agents.
1.5 Summary
- In this book, we adopt the view that intelligence is concerned mainly with rational action. Ideally, an intelligent agent takes the best possible action in a situation. We will study the problem of building agents that are intelligent in this sense.
