A Dictionary Item is a lexical item description with syntactic role.

  • It must contain a Dictionary Item Headword, e.g. “¹alone …adj”, or “content … pred. adjective & noun³"

  • It can have a Pronunciation/Pronunciation Description.
  • It can describe Word Morphology.
  • It can describe Syntactic usage Guidelines.
  • It can describe Semantic usage Guidelines.
  • It can contain Example Linguistic Expressions.
  • It can be created by a Definer.
  • It can be in a Homonym Relation with another Dictionary Entry (Homograph or Homophone).
  • It can be associated to:
    • one Surface Word Records.
    • one Base Word Records.
    • one Word Lemma Record.
  • It can address Connotations (such as political incorrectness).
