An Appositive is a Noun or noun phrase that provides further information about another noun phrase.

• Context:
  • It can be a Restrictive Appositive or a Non-restrictive Appositive.
  • The two noun phrases are said to be in apposition.
• Example(s):
  • My niece [APPOSITIVE Ann] is engaged to John. My other niece … (Restrictive Appositive)
  • My only niece, [APPOSITIVE Ann], is engaged to John. (Non-restrictive Appositive)
