A Wedding Vow is a marriage vow made during a wedding ceremony.

  • Example(s):
    • I promise to encourage you to follow your dreams.”.
    • I promise to make you laugh when you are taking yourself too seriously.”.
    • I promise to hold your hand through the good times and through the bad times.”.
    • I promise to be loyal and faithful and to put you before all else.”.
    • I promise you to lay my heart in the palm of your hands, I promise you… me.”.
    • Today is the beginning of the rest of our lives. I choose to spend today, and all of my tomorrows, with you.”.
    • I see these vows not as promises but as privileges: I get to laugh with you and cry with you; care for you and share with you. I get to run with you and walk with you; build with you and live with you.”.
    • I promise to seek a deep understanding of your wishes, your desires, your fears, and your dreams.”.

    • Marriage vows are promises each partner in a couple makes to the other during a wedding ceremony based upon Western Christian norms. They are not universal to marriage and not necessary in most legal jurisdictions. They are not even universal within Christian marriage, as Eastern Christians do not have marriage vows in their traditional wedding ceremonies. [1]
