For example, in a study of prostate specific antigen (PSA) screening for prostate cancer in men, those with high PSA levels received prostate biopsies, while those with normal PSA levels were followed clinically; this raised the concern that differential verification bias falsely increased the sensitivity, and decreased the specificity, of PSA screening in men with indolent prostate cancer.
