- QUOTE: The PS5 has been out for a few weeks now and there's certainly some elements that are still rough around the edges, as well as other features that are still awaited. Here's a starting list of the common themes that seem to crop up frequently:-
- Option to swap short and long-press PS button menu functions.
- Fix bug re-installing PS4 versions of PS5 games unnecessarily.
- Enable M.2 SSD expansion & VRR sooner than later.
- Add folders to allow users to organise game library.
- Release themes for the UI and maybe optional icons (to remove PS Hits banner).
- Allow Media (Netflix/Prime Video etc) picture-in-picture while playing games.
- Access to saved pictures and videos via mobile app for easy sharing.
- Reintroduce web browser officially for multi-purpose use.
- Cross-platform chat and communities features (Discord-style).
- Allow circle-press to jump back into game within long-press PS button menu.
- Easier viewing of overall trophy status in-game beyond just suggested cards.
- 1440p support for monitor users (note: games will need to be updated too).

- QUOTE: ... So. There you go. PlayStation 5, holidays 2020. ... Like the PS5, Scarlett will boast a CPU based on AMD’s Ryzen line and a GPU based on its Navi family; like the PS5, it will ditch the spinning hard drive for a solid-state drive. ... The next-gen controller uses a USB Type-C connector for charging (and you can play through the cable as well). Its larger-capacity battery and haptics motors make the new controller a bit heavier than the DualShock 4, but Aoki says it will still come in a bit lighter than the current Xbox controller "with batteries in it." ...

- Sony has confirmed that the next PlayStation, to be called PlayStation 5, is expected to ship by the end of 2020. In early 2020 Sony's financial report for the quarter ending March 31, 2019 affirmed that new next-generation hardware was in development but would ship no earlier than April 2020.[1]
Mark Cerny, in an interview with Wired in April 2019, stated that Sony was working on its next console that will serve as its next-generation entry. According to Cerny, the console will use AMD's Ryzen with the 7 nm Zen 2 architecture, and with a Radeon Navi-family GPU which includes support for real-time ray-tracing rendering. The new console will ship with SSD storage, as Cerny emphasized the need for fast loading times and larger bandwidth to make games more immersive, as well as to support the required content streaming from disc for 8K graphics resolutions. The new unit is said to be fully backwards-compatible with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR titles, with Cerny stating that the transition to the new console is meant to be a soft one.[2]
In a second interview with Wired in October 2019 further details of the new hardware were revealed : the console would support 100GB Blu-Ray discs, and support 4K Blu-Ray video; whilst game installation from a disc would (still) be mandatory as to take advantage of the SSD, but the user will have some fine-grain control of how much they want to have installed, such as only installing the multiplayer components of a game.[3] The system's new controller will have adaptive triggers that can change the resistance to the player as necessary, such as changing the resistance during the action of pulling an arrow back in a bow in-game. The controller will also have strong haptic feedback through voice coil actuators, which together with an improved controller speaker is intended to give better in-game feedback. USB-C connectivity, together with a higher rated battery are other improvements to the new controller.
