A Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI) is a research project responsible for the formulation and maintenance of the DCMI artifact, such as Dublin Core Metadata Element Set (DCMES).

DCMI is currently hosted by the OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc., a not-for-profit international library consortium. The work of DCMI is done by contributors from many institutions in many countries.
