A Coreferent Entity Mention is an entity mention in a coreferent entity mention relation with another entity mention.

  • It can be detected by a Coreference Resolution System (that implements a Coreference Resolution algorithm).
  • It can be:
    • a Within-Document Coreferent Entity Mention (if both entities are in the same document).
    • a Multi-Document Coreferent Entity Mention (if the two entities are in separate document).
• Example(s):
  • a Within-Document Coreferent Entity Mention:
    • In the sentences “Jane Doe graduated last year. Ms. Doe did well this year."
  • a Multi-Document Coreferent Entity Mention:
  • If one document has sentence "Jane Doe graduated last year." and another document has sentence "Ms. Doe did well this year." the Entity Mention Jane Doe is a Multi-Document Coreferent Entity Mention to Ms. Doe, and Ms. Doe
    • “Law Office of Smith, Johnson & Miller” and "Law Office of Smith et al.” (would likely require that their Mention Context includes the same location).
