A Secant Function is a trigonometric function and the reciprocal fuction of the cosine function.
- AKA: Secant, Secant of an Angle.
- Context:
- It can be defined as the ratio between lengths of the hypotenuse ([math]\displaystyle{ h }[/math]) and adjacent side ([math]\displaystyle{ b }[/math]) to the acute angle ([math]\displaystyle{ \theta }[/math]) in a right triangle :
- [math]\displaystyle{ \sec(\theta)= \frac{h}{b}=\frac{1}{\cos(\theta)} }[/math]
