A State of Being Unemployed is an employment status where a worker performs job seeking acts to become an employed worker (within an unemployed population).

- It can be preceded by an Unemployment Event (a transition from an Employed State due to an Unemployment Cause).
- It can be succeeded by an Employed State and an Employment Cause.
- It can include an Education State, especially a retraining state.

- It can be prolonged by a (general) High-Unemployment Rate.
